'Nagashi Somen' Party at International Residence

Similar with the event at Hanazono Dormitory, we conducted a 'Nagashi Somen' Party at the International Residence of the university.

We planned the event to be one of the platforms for our international students to establish rapport and mutual understanding with the members of the local community.

It is sometimes a bit tricky for international students to get used to living in Japan, with the many rules, the least of which deal with garbage disposal.

On the other hand, the members of the local community appear to be a little aloof(?), and at times, they seem to steer clear of the international students.

We see this event as a small step to try to bridge the distance between the international students and the members of the local community.

At the end of the party, yours truly was surprised to receive two 'Omedetou' (Congratulations) cookies from the cute daughters of one of our staff members...
Yes, yours truly just turned 57 a few days earlier... Domo arigatou !!
