Shakuhachi practice session continues...

Even in the rain, the students came...
I was pleasantly surprised and impressed... :-)
It looks like our weekly practice session on Tuesday lunch break is getting well on track...
I started to teach them the first song... 'Twinkle Twinkle Little Star'...
It will be a real pleasure if some of the students could get motivated enough to continue playing the instrument... (Lrong)

I think he spent a considerable amount of time preparing for the talk, and I commend him on that. Eighteen students, including eight international students came to listen to him. The MC was Zati, from Brunei.

Kagawa Prefecture Home Visit Program (Session 1, 2016)

This program is conducted under the umbrella organization called 香川県留学生等国際交流連絡協議会 (my translation: Kagawa Prefecture Liaison Council for International Student Affairs). The Liaison Office has about 50 organizations as members. These organizations are either educational institutions like Kagawa University, prefectural or city offices, business enterprises, or grass-root organizations. The common thread cutting across these organizations is their link with international students.

For this event, Kagawa University International Office is coordinating with the Kagawa Prefectural Office. We handle the application and documentation for the international side, while the Kagawa Prefectural Office liaise with the host families. I think this is the fourth year we are conducting the program, and each time, we have had a sizable number of international students and host families coming together. We hope both parties will connect well with each other, and establish a long lasting relationship together. (Lrong)

Thai Language class conducted by Chiang Mai University student

For the past few years, we have been coordinating with Chiang Mai University to conduct a two-week program for our students.
Before we bring our students to Chiang Mai University, normally in late August, we train them on various aspects connected to traveling abroad as most of the students were going abroad for the first time.
We also train them on communication skills, and this includes some sessions on Thai Language, culture, tradition, and so on...
This year, we are happy to have Ms. Kingkarn Yuenpairoj aka Nice, an exchange student from Chiang Mai University, to conduct the sessions for us. (Lrong)
