Shakuhachi sessions with students...

A colleague of mine and I continued with the shakuhachi sessions with students...
As mentioned before, the shakuhachi is not quite an 'easy' instrument to play...
So, students often come and go, so to say...
Nevertheless, we normally had a good time mingling with the students and trying to have them make a sound from the flute...

Final Shakuhachi session for the year 2016

Today, I am very happy to note that we enjoyed playing the Shakuhachi together for the final time for the year 2016... 
The air temperature was somewhat low but pleasant enough for the body, and I did not see any fingers 'trembling' in the cold...
I look forward to seeing the students again when we meet in January 2017...

First Shakuhachi session for Autumn 2016

Conducted the fist session for the Shakuhachi for international students who are interested to learn about the flute.
The students are from Burundi, South Africa, Senegal, Germany, Vietnam, Brunei, and United States. It is not easy to make a sound from the Shakuhachi, and it was a pleasure to see the students trying their best. I am looking forward to the next session with them. Once they get some sounds from the flute, I think I shall introduce to them the notes. (Lrong)

Shakuhachi practice session continues...

Even in the rain, the students came...
I was pleasantly surprised and impressed... :-)
It looks like our weekly practice session on Tuesday lunch break is getting well on track...
I started to teach them the first song... 'Twinkle Twinkle Little Star'...
It will be a real pleasure if some of the students could get motivated enough to continue playing the instrument... (Lrong)
