Local culinary specialties in Kagawa (Series #18)

Ai Matsumoto, a sophomore at the Faculty of Economics, introduced three dishes that are unique to the Kagawa area. 

The dishes are Mamba no kenchan, Shipoku udon, and ozoni. 

Mamba no kenchan is a vegetable dish made from a mustard green that is widely grown in this locality. 

Shipoku udon is a winter season noodle dish that consists of many varieties of vegetables and chicken. 

And ozoni is a specialty that is normally eaten during the new year season. 

There were 17 people in the audience, including 8 international students. 

Korea, from the eyes of a Korean (Series #17)

The Lunch Presentation Meeting for the second semester in 2011 started off with a presentation by a graduate student from Korea...

He introduced the participants to some parts of Seoul as seen by a Korean like himself...

There were 16 participants today... 6 of which were international students...

Among the questions were the distance between the sub-cities within the metropolis of Seoul... 

Some students also asked about the reason why he came to Japan and what he plans to do after he graduates...

Kenji provided an interesting comparison between vairous aspects of the rugby game with that of American football...

There were many questions, some of which asked about whether the players traded punches as is commonly seen in soccer and ice hockey games...

Apparently, within the High School rugby tournaments in Japan, Shikoku high schools are not known to be strong teams...
High schools in Fukuoka, Kanazawa, Osaka are the strong teams in these tournaments...

第15回夏日帰り（男木島） 15th Summer Trip (Ogijima)

Kagawa University Foreign Student Association (KUFSA) and Kagawa University Inter-Cultural Society (ICES), together with the sponsorship from Takamatsu Higashi Lions Club, organized the 15th Summer trip on 3rd July 2011, Sunday.

There were 111 participants from 11 countries...

We took the Meon Ferry, departing Takamatsu Port at 10:00...

The rainy season is not over, and when we reached Ogijima Port at 10:40, heavy rains fell on us...

We held the opening ceremony at the newly built Ticket Office Lounge where Takamatsu Higashi Lions Club presented KUFSA with some financial assistance...

Luckily, the rains stopped at about 11:30...

It was good to see international and Japanese students playing together at the beach...

Some of course, chose to remain dry while posing for pictures...

Thus year, thank god that we did not have any major injuries...
The students seemed to have had a good time, and the Takamatsu Higashi Lions Club members were happy to assist us with the financial aid and the provision of the water vehicles...

We left Ogijima on the last ferry, departing at 17:00, and arriving at Takamatsu Port at 17:40...
